Everything is black, the cold freezes the blood as it passes. The dilapidated walls of Spitalfields tell the story of the misery in this dark place. The souls here have been worn down by the harsh years, haunting them with a hunger they cannot escape. Eliza, once known as Annie, hardly remembers the happy times with her husband. Alcoholism has robbed her of all that, leaving only darkness in its wake. After losing her husband and son, she walks, walking endlessly every day to sell her body to strangers. Behind the blade of her chopper is he, watching and lurking in the shadows. Soon the flame in Eliza's heart will be extinguished and another story will take its place in this dark world.

Vergessen Mein Körper ist zu einem Gefängnis geworden wo kein Ton herkommt Gefühle bleiben gefangen Von diesem Käfig aus Fleisch Ich versuche zu sprechen, mich zu bewegen, … Aber alles bleibt still.

about

"Sociological Veranda" marks Kilmarth's debut album, the culmination of several years of dedicated work. The album seamlessly weaves together various influences, from the dark electro tones of "Fordism and Other Delicacies" to the cold declamations of "Vergessen" and "Lurking," and the drum and bass vibes of "Splintery Fear." Additionally, it explores IDM with "La Marche Noire des Blattes" and even ventures into a hybrid of IDM and Samba with "The Dark Samba Complex."

This opus serves as a journey through the diverse influences that have shaped my musical evolution over the years. A decade-long collaboration with Side-Line magazine provided invaluable exposure to numerous artists, fostering inspiration that contributed to the creation of "Sociological Veranda."

Reflecting on the dark electro/gothic concerts in Waregem (Belgium), where I spent evenings immersed in the performances of various groups at different festivals, I express warm gratitude to all individuals and bands who have supported and inspired me over the years— Seba, Steff, Benoit, Bernard, Depeche Mode, Billie Holiday, The Young Gods,Telefon Tel Aviv, Bel Canto, Front Line Assembly, Recoil, Autechre, The Cure, Rival Consoles, Suicide Commando, Mnemonic, Kraftwerk, Dead Can Dance, Subheim, Skinny Puppy, Frederic Chopin, Moderat, Cameron/Venus Theory, Aiboforcen, Talk Talk, Bersarin Quartett, Front 242, Lorn, Placebo Effect, The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, Nitzer Ebb, Deine Lakaien, Fad Gadget, Daniel Myer, Massive Attack, Plastic Noise Experience, The Mission, Relatives Menschsein, Alva Noto, Raison d'être, Chandeen, Access to Arasaka, Burial, Dive, Bohren & der Club of Gore, Second Voice, Linkin Park, Internal, Sopor Aeternus, Dale Cooper Quartet & The Dictaphones, Apparat, Das Ich, NoyceTM, Proem, Isan, Project Pitchfork, Mesh, Diary of Dreams, Statemachine, Biosphere, De/Vision, John Alexander Ericson, Erik Satie, and more.

A special tribute goes to my father, who died a few months ago. This endeavor is dedicated to his memory. I also extend heartfelt thanks to Valérie, Elias, my mother, friends, Jacky, Blessing, Silly Shadow, Echo, Side-Line, radios and labels such as Alfa Matrix, People Can Listen, Adventurous Music, Kalamine Records, also Jordi, Tim, Kilmarth's followers ... Without their support, this journey would not have been possible.

Reviews:

Electroemotions/January 2024 by Julio César Martínez González

"Delve into the intriguing sound universe of Kilmarth, a Belgian electronic project that skillfully mixes influences from IDM, Ambient, post-industrial, cinematography and dark electronics.
"Sociological Veranda" is revealed to be Kilmarth's debut album, a masterpiece that embodies several years of dedication and creative effort. This album masterfully fuses diverse influences, from dark electro tones to reflections on the mysterious electro/gothic concerts in Waregem, Belgium, thus generating a work that transcends conventional musical boundaries.
Within this unique sound experience, Kilmarth shares his single “Better Days,” collaborating with the captivating vocals of Blessing Daniel. The piece immerses us in an introspective proposal, where dark electronic essences are intertwined with the melodic narrative of a jazz song. "Better Days" invites us on a journey in search of better days, capturing the very essence of hope among the shadows.
Prepare for an immersive musical journey that explores electronic synthesis with jazzy nuances, guiding you through soundscapes that defy convention."
